Exam Study Survey
We need your help. The Department of Real Estate is in the process of conducting an examination study to insure the real estate examinations are up-to-date and test to today’s required knowledges for a new licensee to effectively perform as an entry level licensee.
A key component of this study is to develop an accurate description of the jobs performed by real estate licensees that will be used by the Department of Real Estate to ensure that the real estate licensing examinations remain up-to-date and effective, to develop future versions of the DRE examination, and to identify major professional development needs of the real estate profession.
To facilitate this study, the Department of Real Estate (DRE), in conjunction with Cooperative Personnel Services (CPS), is seeking the assistance of all licensed Real Estate Brokers, Salespersons, and knowledgeable individuals who work in the real estate industry in order to complete a job analysis questionnaire.
The questionnaire has been available since January 23, 2009 and the response rate by Salespersons has been good, but the response rate from brokers has not met our expectations. Brokers, completion of the questionnaire is your opportunity to insure the new licensees coming into the industry possess the necessary knowledges, skills and abilities to properly function as a licensee.
This questionnaire has been designed to obtain information about the, knowledge, tasks, and skills that are an important part of the real estate profession, and consists of background information questions, task statements describing activities a licensed salesperson or broker may perform, and a listing of knowledge and skill statements that may be relevant to real estate broker and salesperson jobs.
The questionnaire will take between 45 to 60 minutes to complete. The questionnaire does not need to be completed in one sitting. Once you have started the questionnaire, you can log out and return to it as many times as necessary to complete it. The answers you have entered in previous sessions will be saved.
Both the broker and salesperson job analysis questionnaires may be accessed at the following links:
If you are an unlicensed individual with thorough, firsthand knowledge of either the Salesperson or Broker job duties, you may complete the questionnaire for the job with which you are most familiar.
Individual responses will be kept confidential and will be combined with the responses of others who have completed the questionnaire.
Thank you for your time and attention in completing this questionnaire. Your input will make a significant contribution toward the results of this study.
