• Credit Card Acceptance
  In order to enhance the payment options that are available to customers, the Department is now accepting Visa and MasterCard as payment in connection with all services that are offered.

  The acceptance of credit card payment for examination fees will continue as it has since 1993.  In order to make payment by credit card for an original examination fee, applicants should complete an examination credit card payment form, RE 298, and mail or fax it in with the examination application and supporting documents.  Also, for rescheduling and re-examination fees, applicants can schedule over the telephone with a credit card payment by calling the Examination Section at (916) 227-0900.

  The Department is accepting credit card payment for original and renewal licensing fees and educational offerings, as well as for the purchase of all publications and for subdivision filing fees.  In order to pay by credit card, a credit card payment form, RE 909, should be mailed in with the appropriate application.

  The acceptance of credit cards for the payment of fees in connection with all applications is another step in the Department's efforts to expand the services that are available to its customers.  (09/08/2000)

• Attention:  Los Angeles Examinees!
  Real estate examinations have been scheduled in Los Angeles during the week of August 14th through 17th 2000.  This is also the week of the Democratic National Convention, which is being held in Los Angeles.  The examination facility is located at 800 S. Figueroa, Suite 620, Los Angeles, which is in the general vicinity of the convention site.  Individuals who are scheduled for an examination during this week should check their local newspaper or transportation authority to determine if alternate routes are being suggested.  (08/09/2000)

• Online address changes
  Tired of not getting DRE mailings because you didn't file your address change on time?  Well, it won't happen again!  Real estate salespeople and brokers can now submit mailing address changes online.  Check it out.  (07/03/2000)
  
• New search capabilities
  We've added several new online queries to our Web site.  Now you can check dates of current exams, find out the date of your scheduled exam, and even get the results of your exam -- all from the convenience of your computer!  (07/03/2000)
  
• Fill-in forms
  You asked for it . . . and we listened:  fill-in-able forms!  The Department has initiated an ambitious project to convert its forms from hard copy versions to ones you can fill in online.  You'll soon be able to throw away that bottle of white-out . . . not to mention no more writer's cramp from filling out those multi-page forms by hand!  You can either fill in and print our forms using a free copy of Adobe Reader, or, if you need to save your completed forms, you can do so via Acrobat Business Tools.  While it's going to take a while before all of them are done (you can't redo more than a hundred forms overnight), we think you'll be happy with the results.  Follow these links to try out our first offerings:  Change requests, Exams, and Licensing.  (07/03/2000)

• Suggestions for Subdividers
  We added a section to the Web site with some tips on how to speed up your Subdivision file processing.  We also included a list of some common errors we've found on the Duplicate Budget Packages and Public Report applications and the steps needed to correct them.  (prior to 07/03/2000)
  
• New Commissioner Appointed
  On November 8, 1999, Governor Davis announced the appointment of Paula Reddish Zinnemann as Real Estate Commissioner.

  Ms. Reddish Zinnemann, of Los Angeles, has more than thirty years experience in the real estate business and has practiced real estate law with Schwartz, Wisot and Wilson since 1994. From 1994 to 1996, she served as vice-president and general counsel for John Aaroe and Associates, a real estate brokerage firm. Previously, she served as president of Real Estate Mediation and Arbitration, Inc. Ms. Reddish Zinnemann is a member of the California Association of Realtors and served as president of the Beverly Hills Board of Realtors in 1984.

  Ms. Reddish Zinnemann earned her associate of arts degree from Marjorie Webster Junior College and her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law.  (prior to 07/03/2000)

• Licensing Interactive Voice Response System Improved
  We are pleased to announce that we have recently added new features to the Licensing Sections Interactive Voice Response System (IVR). Callers can now retrieve licensing forms or a printout of the current license status of any real estate licensee by FAX with the use of a touch-tone telephone. The system can also verbally "speak back" the current status of any licensee. These services are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week by calling the Licensing Information Section at (916) 227-0931.  (prior to 07/03/2000)
  
• We Need Your Help !!!!
  On August 1, 1998, the Department began enforcing a federal law which requires all applicants for an original or renewal real estate license to submit proof that they are either a United States Citizen, or a legal resident alien who is entitled to receive a public benefit. The document that is submitted to establish legal presence must be accompanied by a completed State Public Benefits Statement (RE 205). Unfortunately, approximately 25% of the original and renewal applications that have been received since August 1, 1998, have been incomplete in that the State Public Benefits Statement and/or a legal presence document were not included.

  When incomplete applications are received, processing delays are incurred. These delays not only adversely affect the individual whose application is being held in suspense until receipt of the required documentation, but also all other original and renewal applicants, due to the additional workload that is created for the Licensing Section.

  Please help us to help you avoid delays by making certain that you submit an appropriate document establishing legal presence in the United States, together with a properly completed State Public Benefits Statement, with your original or renewal license application.
